Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz welcomes students to campus and reminds them "the climb is worth it."
For 8,000-plus students, the arrival of the fall semester marks the start of their Tar Heel journeys. For thousands more, it's a return to the place they've learned to love.
Facilities staff completed accessibility improvements in time for students to take their traditional first sip.
On the eve of the first day of class, the newest Tar Heels pledged, sang and got advice on how to spend the next four years.

Move-in is in full swing at Carolina. Thousands of new and returning students are unpacking cars, doing some heavy lifting, cramming into elevators and setting up their dorm rooms. Take a look at how Tar Heels are settling into their homes for the new school year.
