More than 8,000 new undergraduate, transfer and graduate students joined the Carolina community this week. They didn’t have to look far to find something to do or a new person to meet.

The start of the fall semester is full of activity, with Fall Fest, a pep rally, Sunset Serenade and all of the other Weeks of Welcome events meant to welcome students and help them settle into the year.

“Our campus is a special place with so much to offer, and it is filled with outstanding people who are ready to support you on your journey here in Chapel Hill and beyond,” Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz told students at New Student Convocation on Sunday evening.
