Free GoPass available for 2024-25
Anyone with an active UNC-Chapel Hill email can take advantage of the deal on GoTriangle bus routes.
The UNC-Chapel Hill community is now eligible for a free GoPass for GoTriangle bus routes.
All University faculty, staff, students and affiliates and UNC Hospital employees with an active UNC-Chapel Hill email are eligible for the offer. Previously, free GoPasses were limited to University riders who do not have an on-campus daytime parking permit and live outside the Chapel Hill Transit service area.
To get a free GoPass that is good now through July 31, 2025, riders should download the Umo app and register an account. University and UNC Hospital riders must register with their UNC.edu email address.
- Download and install the UMO app for iOS or Android.
- Select GoTriangle as your location.
- Create an account using your UNC.edu email.
- Check your email and click the verification link.
- In the Umo app, go to main menu and “Redeem Benefit Code.”
- Complete the form at the bottom of this page to receive the benefit code to enter in the Umo app. The code will be emailed to you.
To use your GoPass, select “Code” in the Umo app and scan the QR code as you board the pass. The Umo app also allows riders to plan transit trips, track bus locations and pay fares on neighboring transit systems.
