UNC-Chapel Hill has launched the UNC Career Hub, designed to provide students – undergraduate and graduate – in addition to alumni and employers, a central location for the many career-related resources at Carolina. The UNC Career Hub came at the recommendation of a chancellor’s working group, with a focus on student career development and life skills.

“The UNC Career Hub will provide our Carolina community with a gateway to tailored resources designed to elevate career growth and success,” said James Barricelli, assistant vice chancellor of career development.

Over the past year, the task force identified essential experiences that students need for their future careers and personal development. They also analyzed the University’s career preparation landscape, which includes centralized resources for all students, in addition to many career resources within schools and programs.

The website will provide an easy-to-use experience for the Carolina community to navigate the career landscape as Tar Heels start or to continue their career journey. The UNC Career Hub also includes a comprehensive events calendar, which includes a wide range of events for the Carolina community.

Students will find custom career resources and career offices designed to support their individual needs, from resume writing to how to prepare for an interview. Alumni will build community in the Heels Engage networking platform, in addition to ways to find support from each of Carolina’s schools. Similarly, employers can explore recruitment opportunities for students and alumni. Employers can also learn about Carolina’s global impact, value of industry partnerships, and how Tar Heels are well prepared for the future of work.

Chancellor Lee H. Roberts said he’s pleased that the working group identified a way to tap into the abundant career resources available at Carolina.

“We place tremendous value on every student graduating with the skills necessary to manage successful career transitions throughout their lifetime,” he said. “The Career Hub is an important way we are providing accessible support and tools for those skills.”

Amy Johnson, vice chancellor for student affairs, said the Career Hub’s focus on the student experience is part of how students can equip themselves with resources for success.

“We want to make it easy for students to take advantage of the abundance of career-related resources that Carolina offers,” Johnson said.“This website demonstrates how our University serves as an engine of opportunity and brings the benefits of our Tar Heel community into a central career resource.”

Mindy Storrie, associate provost for student leadership and chair of the working group, said the UNC Career Hub will guide students regarding career education pathways that are comprehensive and flexible to fit student needs. She said the all-in-one hub is poised to benefit our students and our state in pragmatic ways, including posting internships, full-time positions, and work-related projects.
